36th Backnang Christmas Market

As usual, the CTTA, in conjunction with the Partnerschaftsverein Backnang-Chelmsford. e.V., took part in Backnang Christmas Market. This year saw a novelty, a proper hut and a new location on the Stiftshof. The products on sale, particularly tea and marmelades, were, as ever, extremely popular. As was a nice cup of tea surrounded by the attractively decorated Stiftshof. When snow fell on the Sunday, everything was perfect. We would like to express our thanks to Backnang Town Marketing and the Backnang Office of Culture and Sport, as well as the haulage company Rinker for their logistical assistance.

Christmas Market in Chelmsford Cathedral

Well, we're back! And it was a huge success! The Cathedral was buzzing, everyone was so friendly and we've also accepted an invitation to participate next year. Our thanks go, firstly, to the team - Andreas, Phil & Dorothée, led by David, to the CTTA for all their help and also to Chelmsford Cathedral! (Also to Chelmsford City Hall for storing our goods overnight...!).

We also were present on the Sunday morning at the lighting of the official Twinning Candle - a beautiful moment, symbolising the link between the two communities, both civic and religious.

Here are some pictures:

Participation in the Murrspektakel

We took part in the Murrspektakel on 2nd/3rd September. We had an information stand, a sales' stand and also saw the participation of Chelmsford Community Radio. Jacob Cooks, who performed in March 2017, again did a DJing set at the Wohnzimmer. Our thanks go out to all our visitors and helpers. You can find images on our Flickr page. In addition, take a look at the film put together by the Backnanger Kreiszeitung (in which we also appear): Best Of Murrspektakel

Reading by the author Christian von Aster on 28.04.17 in the Helferhaus

The reading "Von Ziegen, Drachen und den Wundern der Liebe", organised by the Partnerschaftsverein, took place last Friday in the Helferhaus in Backnang.

The reading was well attended, with about 60 people there, the author Christian von Aster was in top form and the audience enjoyed themselves greatly. The press was also there and a very positive report about the event was published in the Backanager Kreiszeitung:

DJ from Chelmsford in the "Wohnzimmer"

On Friday, 31.03.2017, a young DJ from Chelmsford, Jacob Cooks, performed in the "Wohnzimmer" (Willy-Brandt-Platz 2).

The bar was full, the music went down well, people danced and there was a good exchange between the young DJ, his assistant and the primarily young audience.

Both the owner and Jacob would like to repeat the event.

There may be a possibility to repeat this during this year's Murrspektakel.
