Twinning Quiz

There will be a quiz between Backnang and Chelmsford (possibly Annonay too?!) via Zoom on 18th December - if you're interested in participating, contact us on Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein!!

Participation in the Chelmsford Christmas Market

In the first days of December, David travelled to Chelmsford (in spite of all the difficulties with international travel!) and participated in the market there. It was a very popular event, despite the cold (!), and he was also able to make lots of new contacts and refresh old ones. He presented a candle to the Cathedral from the Stiftskirche and extended greetings from the people of Backnang.

Visit of the Mayor of Chelmsford to Backnang

Despite Backnang's Christmas Market being cancelled, we were still able to welcome Cllr Jude Deakin, Mayor of Chelmsford, along with Cllr Linda Mascot, Deputy Mayor, and their consorts to Backnang for a few days at the end of November. They met with our Lord Mayor, Maximilian Friedrich, and members of the town administration. We had a visit to Stuttgart and also an amazing tour of Backnang. Cllr Mascot was also able to visit the Schillerschule, where she handed over letters from pupils in Chelmsford as part of a new initiative to twin primary schools. Thank you to the whole delegation for coming!

Bees, Please!

We were at the Imkerei am Turm on Saturday, 11th September to take on mentorship of 2 beehives, some of the proceeds of which will be given to the Schillerschule in Backnang. We're thrilled to be able to make a contribution to sustainable, local agriculture. In attendance were also Herr Maximilian Friedrich, Lord Mayor of Backnang, and Rainer Mögle of the TSG Backnang. Here are a couple of pictures of the event:

Aaaannndddd... we're back!

Actually, we've never been away. Covid-19 stopped basically everything dead in its tracks, but we've not gone away. Indeed, if anything, the will is stronger than ever. There is the intention to co-operate more with the Annonay and Bacsalmas twinning committees, in order to pool ideas and resources. Our own committee is still intact, finances look good and we have a huge pool of friends and contacts. So let's get at it!

A New Year

We have left 2020 behind and hope for better times in 2021. The Annual General Meeting for 2020-2021 will take place at 14.00 on Saturday, 14th March at Max-Born-Gymnasium, Backnang.
